Thought the recently launched Oppo F5 is a bit out of your budget or too mainstream? The Chinese mobile vendor Oppo clearly understands that and has launched a special edition of the smartphone specifically targeting the youth – the Oppo F5 Youth.

The phone is essentially a water-down version of Oppo F5. Still, it stands out of its competition with its AI-powered selfie camera, full HD+ display, dedicated memory card slot, speedy facial unlock feature, decent processor and 4G VoLTE support.

First, to the pricing, the Oppo F5 Youth will retail at a price tag of Rs 16,990. You will be able to purchase the mobile from all major online and offline retail stores across India.

What’s packed in Oppo F5 Youth?

The Oppo F5 Youth, just like its bigger brother Oppo F5 got a sleek metal unibody design with a curved exterior surface. The antenna lines are now located at the tip of the device giving it a unique finish and design enhancement. The mobile flaunts a 6-inch LTPS TFT Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

Under the hood, the Oppo F5 Youth is powered by a MediaTek MT6763T SoC paired with 3GB of RAM and ARM Mali G71 MP2 770MHz GPU. For storage, the mobile carries 32GB of internal storage. You can further expand the storage up to 256GB using microSD card, which gets its own dedicated card slot. The device runs on a highly customized version of Android 7.1 with ColorOS 3.2 skin over the top.

The AI camera

Now to the main USP of the Oppo F5 Youth, the AI-powered 16-megapixel beauty front camera with f/2.0 aperture. It features a unique facial feature optimization technology to capture the most natural and gorgeous selfies. It has 200 positioning spots which can effectively enhance the symmetry of your face, like your eyes, nose, cheekbones and jawline. In addition, you can easily achieve bokeh effect with an extra focus on your face and blurred background. On the back, you get a 13-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture and PDAF support along with ‘Expert Mode’ and ‘Ultra HD Mode’.

Coming to connectivity, the Oppo F5 Youth comes with 4G LTE network that supports every Indian telcos 4G band. You also get 4G VoLTE support for making HD voice and videos calls. Other connectivity options include 3G and 2G network option, Wi-Fi 2.4/5GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2. For extra security, the mobile comes with a fingerprint scanner placed on the back of the device. Finally, the device gets it fuel from a 3200mAh battery.
