Taking its video entertainment product to the masses, Amazon has launched a mobile-only plan for Prime Video, its OTT video streaming platform – called Prime Video Mobile Edition. You get unlimited streaming of videos on mobile from Prime Video, without the overhanging other benefits of Amazon Prime membership (well, that includes free shipping on all orders at Amazon India, Amazon Music access to name few).
Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition plans currently tied directly with Airtel’s prepaid plan. Airtel will offer bundle prepaid recharge packs with Prime Video Mobile Edition starting as low as Rs 89. However, the main highlight is that the telco is offering free 30-days trial to Prime Video Mobile edition plan to almost all prepaid pack with a minimum validity of 28-days.
Prime Video Mobile Edition features
Before getting into the recharge pack details, here what Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition plan would offer. As the name suggests, it’s only a mobile-plan and you could only stream videos on a mobile device. So, no tablets, PC or laptop and not on the big screen (even casting from mobile won’t work here).
You get to stream all movies and TV shows on Prime video, but the video quality will be set at standard-definition (SD) in Prime Video Mobile Edition. Also, the plan will be limited to a single user (no sharing of login details) and a single device.

Airtel is offering two prepaid plans under the Prime Video Mobile Edition – the Rs 89 and Rs 299 recharge pack. The Rs 89 recharge pack offering subscribers Prime Video Mobile Edition subscription along with 6GB of data for 28 days.
Whereas, the Rs 299 recharge pack offers Prime Video Mobile Edition subscription along with unlimited calls and 1.5GB data per day. The plan comes with a validity of 28 days.
Airtel is offering two prepaid plans with full-fledged Amazon Prime subscription – Rs 131 and Rs 349. Do note that, the Prime membership here packs all the bell and whistles including the complete Prime Video experience, premium access to Amazon Music, free fast shipping on Amazon India, exclusive Prime-only deals and more.
The Rs 131 recharge plan from Airtel comes with one month or 30days of Amazon Prime membership along with 100MB data. This plan will have a validity till your current plan lasts.
Then we have the Rs 349 recharge plan (which is an old plan) which bundles Amazon Prime membership along with unlimited calls and 1.5GB data per day for 28 days.
Amazon’s Prime Video Mobile Edition is a sort of direct competition to Netflix mobile-only plan. The Rs 199 mobile-only Netflix plan offers streaming of all movies, TV shows and documentaries on one device (mobile or tablet) at a time on standard definition (SD) quality.
