You would have seen a dual camera on your smartphone and even rarely a triple camera at the back of your phone, but Samsung wants to add one more. The South Korean mobile vendor has launched Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018), the world’s first quad camera smartphone in India. That’s right 4x camera at the back of your phone in a row.

In addition the 4x fun with the cameras, the Samsung Galaxy A9 also packs a large infinity display, an octa-core Snapdragon chipset under the hood, dual SIM with expandable memory option, Dolby Atmos surround sound and a larger battery with Fast Charging capabilities.

Directly to the cash point, Samsung Galaxy A9 is priced at Rs 36,990 for the 6GB RAM variant, which is in the OnePlus 6T territory. There is one higher RAM variant with 8GB of RAM priced at Rs 39,990. The phone will be made available through Amazon India, PaytmMall and Flipkart. Pre-orders begin today and sales will start on 28th November 2018. You would also be able to pick one from Samsung’s nationwide offline retails stores.

4x Fun with 4x Camera

Before anything let’s talk about the quad cameras at the back of Samsung Galaxy A9. The four rear cameras consist of one main 24-megapixel autofocus camera with an F1.7 aperture that’s suitable for both low light and bright daylight scenes. An 8-megapixel Ultra Wide fixed focus camera with a 120-degree field of view and an F2.4 aperture. Then we have the 10-megapixel Telephoto autofocus camera, that allows you to zoom in to your subject with its 2x optical zoom and features an F2.4 aperture. Finally, for those bokeh effects, the phone is equipped with a 5-megapixel Depth camera featuring fixed focus, 85-degree field of view and F2.2 aperture.

Helping these four cameras in Samsung Galaxy A9 is its intelligent camera features. This includes Scene Optimizer, which detects the subject of your photo and decides between nineteen different modes like a flower, food, animals etc to optimize the picture accordingly. Then there is the Flaw Detection which would in real-time catch eye blinks, facial blurs and backlighting. Thus you could readjust or reshoot the scene before getting lost. In addition to all this, the camera features a wide range of stamps, stickers, filters, and AR Emoji.

For the selfie shots, the Samsung Galaxy A9 gets a 24-megapixel front camera. It features F2.0 aperture and wide 77-degree field of view. The Selfie Focus feature helps you to take those selfie photos with bokeh effect blurring out the background and focusing entirely on you.

Samsung Galaxy A9 supports UHD 4K video recording at 30fps and comes with Video Digital Image Stabilization (VDIS). It supports 8X Zoom (up to 2X optical zoom, up to 8X digital zoom), Hyperlapse video with stabilization and continuous autofocus video.

Other Specification

As we have settled with the 4x camera, let’s talk about the other features and specifications of Samsung Galaxy A9. Thanks to the glass covering at the back, you get unique gradient colours like the one we have seen on Huawei P20 Pro. The gradient finish is available only for Lemonade Blue and Bubblegum Pink.
