The online streaming giant has come up StreamFest in India that offers an entire weekend or 48-hours of free access to its millions of video catalogue.
Starting 12.01 am on 5 December up until 11.59 pm 6th December 2020, Netflix will be open for free to anyone in India. You will get one stream in standard definition (480p) that can be accessed through any device of your choice, let it be mobile, laptop, PC, gaming consoles or big TV screen.
The best part, Netflix StreamFest in India is completely free. You don’t need to add a credit card or debit card or do any sort of payments in the platform. You just need to create an account for the service at netflix.com/StreamFest using your name, email or phone number.
Once the StreamFest event starts on 5th December, you can access everything including every feature that normal Netflix subscribers currently use. Like, setting up profiles including Kid’s profiles, add TV shows or movies to the watchlist, watch movie and TV shows with subtitles or dubs and even download (smart Download) any movie or series directly on mobile for offline viewing.
With StreamFest, Netflix wants you to try and experience the platform exactly the way its paid subscribers do. Once you are, convinced, you can instantly choose a paid plan which starts at Rs 199 per month and subscribe to it.
“An idea that we’re excited about, and we’ll see how it goes, but we think that giving everyone in [a] country access to Netflix for free for a weekend could be a great way to expose a bunch of new people to the amazing stories that we have, the service, how the service works, really create an event and hopefully get a bunch of those folks to sign up. So we’re going to try that in India, and we’ll see how that goes. And that’s just an example of the kind of innovation that we seek to do in this space,” said Greg Peters, COO, and CPO, Netflix.
Earlier, the streaming giant offered limited free access to select Netflix original movies and TV Series. With the free access, you could watch several full movies with all language options and subtitle, while can stream the first episode of any available TV series. The best part, you don’t need to create an account with Netflix to enjoy this offer.
