Once ruled the Indian mobile market, Micromax is attempting a comeback with a nationalistic approach and touting to be part of ‘Make in India’ initiative. The homegrown mobile vendor is giving a re-birth to its smartphone child with ‘IN’ series. Yes, ‘IN’ is for India. The company has launched two new android smartphones under the IN series – Micromax in note 1 and Micromax in 1b.
Ignoring the odd names of both these smartphones, they both are powered by MediaTek chipset. They run on Android 10 OS with stock android experience with no ads or bloatware from Micromax part. More to it, the company guarantees minimum two-years of Android updates for these phones.
Before we get more into the internals of these phones, let’s look into the pricing. The Micromax in note 1 is priced in India at Rs 10,999 which is for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option. While the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage model is priced at Rs 12,499.
Coming to Micromax in 1b price in India starts at Rs 6,999 for the 2GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. Whereas its 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant are priced at 7,999.
Both these phones will be initially available exclusively through Flipkart and Micromax stores. The Micromax in note 1 will go on sale starting November 24, while Micromax in 1b will be available two days later starting November 26.
Micromax in note 1 specifications and features
Featuring an edge to edge display, the Micromax in note 1 flaunts a 6.67-inch full HD+ (1080pixels by 2400pixels) display with a hole-punch design. It’s powered by 2.0GHz Octa-Core MediaTek Helio G85 processor paired with PowerVR GE8320 GPU and 4GB of RAM. The phone packs up to 128GB of internal storage which can further be expanded using MicroSD card.
Micromax in note 1 boasts a quad-camera setup at the rear. This includes a 48-megapixel primary camera, 1 5-megapixel wide-angle camera with 115-degree FOV, a 2-megapixel Macro lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Up in the front, the phone comes with a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.
The dual SIM smartphone support 4G LTE, VoLTE, VoWiFi, 3G and 2G network. Other connectivity option includes WiFi 2.4GHZ+5GHZ 802.11ac/a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. For added security, the phone comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. Finally, the phone carries 5000mAh battery supporting reverse charging and comes with 18W fast charger.
Micromax in 1b specifications and features
Coming to the more budget-friendly Micromax in 1b, the phone flaunts 6.517-inch LCD HD+ (1600pixels by 720pixels) display with a waterdrop notch or V-notch. Under the hood, the phone is powered by 2.3 GHz MediaTek G35 processor coupled with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The phone comes with up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB of storage which is expandable using microSD card.
Coming to camera array, the Micromax in 1b boasts a dual-rear camera setup featuring a 13-megapixel primary camera and 2-megapixel depth sensor. Upfront, the phone carries an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
