Right now you need to switch between a dozen of OTT apps to find something interesting to binge-watch. Besides you need premium access to all those individual apps to get access to your favourite movies, TV shows or live TV. Well, that going to change if you gift yourself a Jio Fiber connection and the Jio set-top box.
During the Reliance 43rd AGM, the company has officially launched the Jio TV+, an exclusive content curation platform for its Jio set-box customers. In a nutshell, the platform aggregates content for at least twelve leading premium OTT players. It offers a single sign-on for all these OTT apps and takes watching live TV to the net level.
First to the aggregation, where the Jio TV plus would aggregate movies, TV shows and other content from 12 leading OTT apps. It would curate content from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Voot, Sony Liv, Zee5, Lionsgate Play, Jio Cinema, JioSaavn, YouTube, Shemaroo and Eros Now. You could simply watch any content from these OTT services without switching to these individual apps.
Another big advantage of JioTV plus is the single click, single sign-on for all these 12 OTT platforms. So, that’s one single log-in to the throve of contents without registering or logging-in to these individual OTT services separately. You could find your favourite movie or TV show (from all these OTT apps) and just click the play button to start streaming the content, no matter what OTT service the content comes.
In addition to tradition search, the JioTV plus offers voice search. Using this you could get contextual results, like searching for content based on genres, actors, directors, producers and more.
JioTV+ also wants to elevate your regular TV watching experience with Interactive Live TV. While watching a TV channel you could now directly and in realtime interact with it. Like you can cast your vote directly right from your TV, for your favourite participant in a TV show like Big Boss. The results of the poll are shown in real-time right on JioTV plus. It would be a boon to News channels who need regular interaction with its audience.
“We believe that interactivity on the TV or two-way communication is the future of consumption,” said Akash Ambani while launching JioTV plus.
Jio set-top box also comes with Jio App Store, from where you could download application in multiple genres like Entertainment, Education, Sports, Cooking, Gaming, Religion and more. It’s currently inviting app developers to build new apps from the platform through the Jio developer program.
