An Israeli couple, Lior and Vardit Adler, have named their baby daughter Like, taking inspiration from the Facebook social networking site, Israeli media say.

“‘To me it is important to give my children names that are not used anywhere else, at least not in Israel, Like could be a modern equivalent of the traditional Jewish name Ahuva, which translates as “beloved.” Like’s father told the German Press Agency.

The couple gave unique names to their first two children too, perhaps for their love of cooking: Dvash (honey in Hebrew) and Pie.

When they chose the name Like, the sound was at least as important as the meaning, explained Lior. Like had a nice and international ring to it, he said, and Facebook had become the icon of today’s generation.”

Of course, the name like is weird, but has got a slightly nicer ring than the name “Facebook” recently bestowed upon a newborn girl in nearby Egypt.
