Helping out frequent worldwide travellers, the government owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to offer access to over 44 million Wi-Fi hotspots globally.

BSNL mobile subscribers, both prepaid and postpaid customers can make use the wide-spread Wi-Fi hotspots across nations. With plans starting at Rs 999, subscribers can enjoy unlimited high-speed internet access anywhere in the world.

Wi-Fi plus, which the operator calls the service is offered through BSNL’s mobile application. Removing the effort in remembering multiple logins and passwords, Wi-Fi plus allow you to subscribe to a fixed plan. After which, you will be automatically connected to all participating Wi-Fi hotspots. The Wi-Fi plus plan starts at Rs 999 which offers unlimited data usage for three days, Rs 1599 plan offers the same benefits of Rs 999 plan with 15 days validity. Finally, the Rs 1999 plan offers unlimited internet access for a period of 30 days.

BSNL is the first among the Indian mobile operators to have taken this big step forward towards how mobile subscribers use Wi-Fi internationally. They will be able to access unlimited data on these hotspots at fixed cost,” commented Shrivastava, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Anupam. “BSNL mobile subscribers can access Wi-Fi anywhere in the world without worrying about the bill shock when they get home and no longer have to limit their Internet usage while abroad”.

BSNL has partnered with Tata Communications who has a global network of submarine cable for the Wi-Fi Plus service. The company also provides connectivity to telecom service providers across more than 240 countries and territories.
