After weeks of teasing and building up the hike, OnePlus has finally unveiled its mid-range android smartphone – the OnePlus Nord in India. What you get is a gorgeous tough build smartphone, with flagship quad rear camera, dual selfie camera, up-to-date Android OS, 90 Hz beautify AMOLED display, Snapdragon 765G SoC, Wrap Charge and best of all 5G-ready.

Already persuaded to purchase one, then the pricing would make you extra happy. The pricing of OnePlus Nord starts at Rs 24,999, which is for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage model. Then there is the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant priced at Rs 27,999. While you definitely, want to get hands-on the top-end variant of OnePlus Nord with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage priced just below 30K for Rs 29,999. For the colour choice, you get to choose from Blue Marble and Gray Onyx.

Open sales for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variants will start at 12pm IST on August 4th 2020. It will be available exclusively through Amazon India and OnePlus India online stores.

However, the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage model of OnePlus Nord will be available exclusively at Amazon India. But, you need to wait for little more to get hands-on it, as it would only be available for purchase starting September this year.

90 Hz Fluid AMOLED display

Once you go 90 Hz, there’s no going back. That’s right in terms of OnePlus Nord, as the phone flaunts a 6.44-inch Fluid AMOLED full HD+ (2400×1080 pixels) display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. In addition to the 408ppi, it also carries a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display supports sRGB and Display P3 colour gamut. The whole screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The display has 2,048 levels of automatic brightness which offers a smoother brightness transition and better eye comfort while using the phone. It also features Video enhancer, Reading mode and Night mode.

Snapdragon SoC with 5G

Under the hood, the OnePlus Nord is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G Mobile Platform coupled with Adreno 620 GPU. For maximum you could ever ask, the phone is paired with up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB UFS2.1 internal storage. Do note that there is no expandable storage option via microSD card available.

OnePlus Nord runs on OxygenOS 10.5 based on Android 10. However, this time around the company has decided to include many stock apps like Messaging and Phone dialer app on the phone. As always, the company guarantees two years of software updates and three years of security updates for Nord. So, it will be smooth on day One, smooth on day 1,000.

5G network might not be available in India just yet, but whenever 5G is ready, you would be the first to use it. Other connectivity options include 4G LTE with VoLTE and VoWiFi, 2×2 MIMO, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4G/5G), Bluetooth 5.1 with support for aptX, aptX HD, LDAC and AAC, NFC and NavIC, which is India’s navigation system or GPS alternative. There is no headphone port, so you would need to settle with standard Type-C earphone. The phone also comes with dual nano-SIM support.

4 rear & 2 front Cameras

OnePlus Nord packs a quad rear camera setup that includes the same 48 MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor as the OnePlus 8. It features optical image stabilization (OIS), EIS and has an aperture of f/1.75. Further, the camera setup includes an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with 119-degree field of view (FoV) and f/2.25 aperture. There is also a 5-megapixel depth lens with f/2.4 aperture and a 2-megapixel macro lens featuring same f/2.4 aperture. The rear camera also gets support from a Dual LED Flash.

For selfies and video chatting, the OnePlus Nord packs dual selfie camera setup at the front dual dot cut out. These include a 32-megapixel Sony IMX616 primary sensor featuring EIS and f/2.45 aperture, along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens featuring 1.5-degree of FoV and same f/2.45 aperture. Thus you probably never end up cutting out your friends in a huge group shot.

OnePlus Nord launched in India

Talking about videos, the OnePlus Nord’s primary front camera can record in 4K at 60 fps. The rear camera unit can do the same but at 30fps and support Super slow-motion videos in 1080p at 240 fps.

On the camera software side, you get all the bells and whistles with AI and other features like UltraShot HDR, Nightscape, Super macro, Portrait, Pro mode, Panorama, AI scene detection, RAW image, Filters and more.

The extras

Those who have used an OnePlus knows and loves the iconic Alert slider. The company has retained the Alert slider on OnePlus Nord, and you could use it toggle between Ring, Vibrate, and Silent modes. For audiophiles, the mobile comes with a single super liner speaker and also has noise cancellation support. For security, there is an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Finally, coming to battery, the OnePlus Nord bundles a 4115 mAh non-removable battery. It comes with Warp Charge 30T fast charging that could charge your phone from 0 to 70 per cent in just 30 minutes.
