Network issue or low signal at your home or office/indoors? Connected to a Wi-Fi network, then you could still make a receive calls. Indian telecom operator Reliance Jio has publically launched Wi-Fi Calling facility to its subscribers. With this service, you could make and receive calls over any connected Wi-Fi network using your existing Jio phone number. Dubbed as Jio Wi-Fi Calling, one would be able to make and receive both voice over Wi-Fi and video over Wi-Fi.

With Jio Wi-Fi calling, what you get is a clear, uninterrupted and free of cost (if you’re connected to your home or office Wi-Fi network, which is mostly unlimited) voice and video calling service. Free of cost in the sense, its included as part of your existing Jio mobile plan.

Reliance Jio rolls out voice over Wi-Fi and video over Wi-Fi Calling

Asper Reliance Jio the voice and video calls will seamlessly switch between 4G VoLTE and Wi-Fi to provide you with a better experience. It works with any Wi-Fi network, irrespective of your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or broadband provider. For example, if you’re connected to a BSNL or Airtel broadband Wi-Fi network, you could still make and receive voice and video calls from your Jio phone number. No restriction, like the recently launched Airtel Wi-Fi Calling, which is limited to Airtel Broadband.

How to enable Wi-Fi Calling on Jio

Reliance Jio Wi-Fi Calling facility is available to both Android and iOS compatible devices. This includes a list of more than 150 smartphones ranging from the popular Apple iPhone series, Samsung Galaxy S series, Google Pixel and Xiaomi Redmi K20 and POCO F1. Currently, smartphones from Coolpad, Infinix, itel, Lava, Mobiistar, Motorola, TECNO and Vivo are also supported.   • To enable Jio Wi-Fi calling on compatible Android device, first, go to setting > Search for
    Wi-Fi Calling (or choose connections) > under it enable Wi-Fi calling.
  • To enable Jio Wi-Fi calling on compatible Apple device, first, go to setting > click on Phone > under it choose Wi-Fi Calling > and then toggle the “Wi-Fi Calling on This Phone” option.
  • In both cases, you should keep both VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling switched on for seamless transition of the network.

Note that Reliance Jio Wi-Fi Calling is included at no additional charge and is part of your existing voice plan. All you need is an existing voice plan and a Voice over Wi-Fi compatible device. You could also make and receive Voice and Video Wi-Fi Calling to any Indian numbers during roaming in India.
