The Income Tax Department of India has launched an instant e-PAN allotment facility. This feature is currently in beta stage and is completely free of cost for a limited period of time. Even though the application procedure is fairly simple, the mismatch in the details can affect the process. Once the application is submitted, the IT department will allot a Permanent Account Number(PAN) for you. You will also receive an intimation SMS/email for the same. Without much delay, you will be able to download the e-PAN from the official portal.
The new instant e-PAN facility by the IT department will surely save some time and effort. Moreover, there is less than a month left to file income tax returns for individuals. But, this facility is only for resident individuals and not for Hindu Undivided Family (HUF), firms, trusts and companies etc. However, they have specially mentioned in the portal that this service is for a ‘limited period of time’.
