VoLTE essentially lets you make voice calls over the LTE data networks just like a VoIP call but without the need of any third party apps and utilizing the native phone dialer, which indeed brings in super high quality or HD voice clarity along with faster connectivity.
To provide an answer for this difference, Reliance Jio has launched a comparison video on voice quality on VoLTE and GSM networks. As you can hear, voice calls on GSM network are less audible with lots of background noise interfering the call. Whereas voice calls on VoLTE is crystal clear in HD quality with hardly any background interference.
Reliance Jio offers both VoLTE and VoWiFi (Voice over WLAN) to its customers and upcoming Reliance Jio LYF branded android smartphones support both technologies. Reliance Jio commercial launch of it 4G LTE service is expected to happen over the next couple of months.
