Xiaomi Redmi 4 launched in India with Snapdragon SoC, 4G VoLTE

Finally, we have the successor to the 4 million sold Redmi 3s. The Chinese mobile vendor has launched Redmi 4 android smartphone in India. On a quick glance, the mobile features HD display, premium metal design, Snapdragon processors, fingerprint sensor and 4G VoLTE connectivity.

As for the price the Redmi 4 comes in three storage and RAM variants with price starting at Rs 6,999. The base variant Redmi 4 with 16GB storage and 2GB of RAM gets a price tag of Rs 6,999. Whereas the mid-range variant with 32GB storage and 3GB of RAM is priced at Rs 8,999. Finally, the top-end Redmi 4 variant with 64GB storage and 4GB of RAM will be sold at Rs 10,999. All three variants will be available exclusively on Amazon India and Mi.com. Yet, the company has opted for a flash sale and the first sale will happen on 23rd May 2017, 12 PM.

Design and Performance

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 got a premium metal unibody design. The outer surface is built through the sandblasting process closely integrating metal and 2.5D glass. The mobile flaunts a 5-inch HD with 2.5D curved glass IPS display.

Under the hood, the Redmi 4 is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. As said earlier, there is three variant for the smartphone. You can choose from base variant with 16GB storage and 2GB of RAM, mid-range 32GB storage and 3GB of RAM variant and high-end 64GB storage and 4GB of RAM variant. We always recommend going for the top-end variant for optimal performance and multi-tasking. You can further expand the storage up to 128GB using microSD card.

Photography and Connectivity

On photography, the Redmi 4 got a 13-megapixel rear camera. It features f/2.0 aperture, 5-lens system and supports PDAF. On the front, the mobile got a 5-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2 large aperture and 36 second-generation intelligent beauty profiles.

Connectivity wise the hybrid dual SIM (dual SIM or SIM + microSD) Redmi 4 supports high-speed 4G LTE networks. You also get VoLTE support for HD voice and video calling. Other connectivity option includes 3G and 2G network support, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2. For extra security, the smartphone also features fingerprint sensor placed at the back.

To fuel the whole device you get a big 4,100mAh battery. Xiaomi claims the battery to run up to 18 days in standby mode and up to 2 days with heavy duty usage. Redmi 4 runs on Android Nougat OS with MIUI 8.2 skin over the top. It features Dual Apps, that allows you to run dual accounts for any app like two WhatsApp account. The mobile also comes integrated with IR-blaster allowing you to use the mobile to control your TV, set-top boxes, air conditioner etc.
