As expected, the Chinese mobile vendor Xiaomi has launched the successor to its original Mi A1 Android One smartphone in India – the Xiaomi Mi A2. The phone packs mid-range hardware which uses the new Snapdragon 660 SoC. Along with this, you get a major improvement in the dual rear camera setup and selfie front camera. The phone runs on the stock android operating system with no MIUI skin over the top.

Xiaomi Mi A2 currently available in 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant in India is priced at Rs 16,999. The company also plans to bring the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant of the phone in the coming months. You could purchase the mobile from Amazon India and Mi India store, with pre-orders starting from 9th August 2018 and actual sale happening on 16th August 2018. For colour choices, you could choose from Gold, Lake Blue, Rose Gold and Black.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Specifications and Features

The Mi A2 boasts an ultra-thin full metal unibody design with grippable textured back cover. The mobile flaunts a 5.99-inch full HD+ full screen (2160 by 1080) display with 18:9 aspect ratio and covered in 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The mobile is powered by a 2.2Ghz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, which is paired with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 512 GPU. For storage, you get 64GB of internal storage option. However, you can’t further expand the storage as the phone lacks a microSD card slot. The phone runs on stock Android 8.1 Oreo OS which could be quickly get upgraded to Android 9 Pie.

Xiaomi launches Mi A2 Android One smartphone

Mi A2 sports a dual camera set up at the back. It’s a combination of a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 lens featuring large f/1.75 aperture which is suitable for low-light photography. The secondary lens is a 12-megapixel Sony IMX486 lens featuring the same f/1.75 aperture which is suitable for taking clearer daytime photos. The camera is backed by AI technology for automatic scene selection and beautification. For selfies, the mobile carries a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 lens featuring f/2.2 aperture and soft light LED flash.

As for connectivity, Mi A2 comes with a dual nano-SIM card slot which supports 4G LTE, VoLTE, 3G and 2G networks. The phone will also support 4G VoLTE for making HD voice and video calls. Other connectivity options include WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and IR blaster. For security, the phone has a fingerprint sensor placed at the back of the device along with the face unlock option. Finally fuelling the device is a 3010mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
