After two months of rigorous testing and trails, WhatsApp, the popular messaging app is now available for JioPhone users across India. Both JioPhone and JioPhone 2 users could download the WhatsApp application directly from JioPhone AppStore.

WhatsApp has built a new version of its messaging app for phones running the KaiOS operating system. It offers a simple, reliable, and secure way of communication with your friends and family. It comes with all basic functionalities like instant messaging, sending photos and videos. You could also record and send voice messages using the app. The best part, everything including chats and media being end-to-end encrypted.

WhatsApp launched for JioPhone

WhatsApp for KaiOS is not been limited to JioPhone. Other KaiOS devices like the Nokia 8110 could also download the app from their respective app store.

Get started with WhatsApp on JioPhone
  • To get started, download the WhatsApp on your JioPhone and JioPhone 2 from JioPhone AppStore.
  • Now add your phone number and get instantly verified via OTP.
  • Set your profile name and picture.
  • Begin chatting with your friends and family one-on-one or in groups (chat with other WhatsApp users only).

Initially, WhatsApp will be available on the JioPhone AppStore starting 10th September 2018 to a limited group of users. Starting 20th September 2018 the app will be rolled out to the general public on all JioPhone’s.

Recently, Google announced support for its Google Assistant on JioPhone and also brought the YouTube app to the platform. As JioPhone being the largest selling 4G feature phone in India, it would truly unleash the potential of the internet by reaching billions of first-time internet users.
