Videocon Telecommunications Limited, one of India’s growing telecom operator who’s telecom licences where cancelled by Hon’ble Supreme Court during the verdict on 2G scam case is shutting down its telecom operations in 11 telecom circles by Jan 18th, 2013 and have asked its subscribers in this circle to MNP port out to other telecom operators as soon as possible.

This step comes after Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) asked Videocon to promptly inform its subscribers about closure of mobile service in unlicensed telecom circles from January 18, 2013. Videocon lost 11 licences for the following telecom circles AndhraPradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, HimachalPradesh, Kerala, Kolkata, Maharashtra, Mumbai, Orissa, Rajasthan and West Bengal. TRAI have provided 10 days deadline for the telecom operator to inform all its existing subscribers in those telecom circles where they failed to renew the licences or get new licences, either in writing or through SMS.

In its official message to subscribers Videocon has said” As per Hon’ble Supreme Court’s order, Videocon services will not be available from Jan 19, 2013(00.00 hour). Please use your available balance and port out by then

Videocon won back 6 of its telecom license during the recent 2G spectrum auction which includes Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu Including Chennai, UP East andUP West. Also they will continue its operations in Punjab circle where they have a partnership with Hfcl Infotel Ltd.
