Telenor Group owned Uninor telecom operator has appointed Mr. Yogesh Malik as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with immediate effect. Current Uninor Managing Director Sigve Brekke will continue to be responsible for all of Telenor affairs in India as the Head of Telenor Group’s Asian Operations.

Yogesh Malik joined Uninor in 2011 as COO of the company, where he has been responsible for developing a highly efficient operating model that has made Uninor a preferred choice for customers in the hypercompetitive Indian market. He has previously held executive positions at Telenor Group headquarter in Norway, and has served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Telenor Group companies in Ukraine and Bangladesh.

Since Yogesh Malik joined the company as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2011, he has played an instrumental role in establishing Uninor as the most affordable mobile operator.  His focus on operational efficiency and innovations that benefit the mass market has contributed to making Uninor India’s fastest growing service provider,” said Sigve Brekke.

Sigve Brekke will continue to have overall responsibility for Telenor affairs in India as the head of Region Asia and will formally take over as Chairman of Uninor once necessary regulatory clearances are secured.
