Its now officially Sony Corp now fully controls Sony Ericsson. Last October Sony made an offer to buy out full stakes of the Sony Ericsson mobile phone venture, from its Swedish partner Ericsson. Sony ericsson was lossing its grounds to other popular brands like Samsung, HTC and Apple. Its smartphone sales was dipping and revenue also going done. So to boost its offerings and catch up with competitors, Sony decided to take over full control over the smartphone business from its swedish partner Ericsson.
According to several reports Sony completed the buyout of Ericsson’s 50 percent stake in Sony Ericsson. The new company will become a fully-owned subsidiary of Sony and will be called “Sony Mobile Communications“. By this take over sony can offer more innovative products by integrating its mobile phone and gaming console portfolios.
According to official statement from Steve Walker, Chief Marketing Officer, Sony Ericsson”Some things won’t change at all. For example, your existing warranty will remain completely valid and you’ll still get the same great service and support that you’ve been used to. But you will see some important new benefits.
Your Sony Ericsson phone already features great Sony technology. But in future, you can expect even more leading-edge Sony capabilities – and easy connectivity with other Sony products including TVs, PCs and tablets to allow you to share content seamlessly across multiple screens. There will also be more opportunities to enjoy premium entertainment content from Sony including music and film services from the Sony Entertainment Network.“
The first smartphone product from Sony will be the new Sony Xperia S. We can accept more world class innovative products from the Sony camp.
