Targeting this smartphone photographers Sony has unveiled QX series of ‘lens-style‘ smartphone attachable cameras – the Cyber-shot DSC-QX100 and DSC-QX10.

The Cyber-shot DSC-QX100 and DSC-QX10 lens-style cameras can be attached to any smartphone with the supplied attachments and turn any smartphone to a power-packed camera. Lens-style cameras can be connected with the mobile via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and using the latest version of Sony’s PlayMemories Mobile application. In addition connection between smartphone and lens-style cameras made simple with one-touch NFC.

Cyber-shot DSC-QX100 is the top model in the QX series featuring 20.2 megapixel with a large 1.0-type Exmor R CMOS sensor. It’s coupled with a wide-aperture f/1.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens with 3.6x optical zoom with Optical SteadyShot giving stunning picture quality. The image processing engine is powered by the powerful BIONZ processor that refines every image for beautifully natural, detail-packed stills and HD video. It also spots dedicated control ring for manual focus and zoom adjustments. It’s available with a price tag of $500.

The smaller sibling in the QX series – Cyber shot DSC-QX10 features 18.2 megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor with a high-quality f/3.3 Sony G Lens. It offers a powerful 10x optical zoom range with built-in Optical SteadyShot that combats camera shake. It’s too powered by BIONZ image processing engine. Its available with a price tag of $250.

Sony Cyber shot DSC-QX10

The lens-style camera works with any Android (3.1 or higher) and iOS devices using Sony’s PlayMemories Mobile application. The supplied smartphone attachment is having a width of 54-75mm/max and thickness 13mm which can be fit to any flat surfaced rear side of smartphone and even tablets. After connecting the smartphone with the camera, users can use the smartphones display as a real-time viewfinder and control other camera function like fire the shutter, start/stop movie recordings, and adjust settings like shooting mode, zoom and Auto Focus area. Photos and videos shot by the lens are stored in both smartphone and in microSD card included with the lens. As the photos been copied to smartphone, users can instantly edit the images, add effects to it and quickly share the photos & videos with social world.
