With a faster processor, metal-frame design, support for VoLTE on 4G and latest Android operating system, India’s top mobile vendor Samsung has launched the upgraded 2016 edition of J series android smartphones – Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016).

For the price sensitive Indian consumer, 2016 J series price starts at Rs 13,990 for the Samsung Galaxy J5 – 6 (2016 edition) and Rs 15,900 for the Samsung Galaxy J7 – 6 (2016 edition). Both smartphones are available exclusively at Flipkart and sale starts from 10th May 2016.

Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016 edition)

The more affordable of the two Galaxy J5 2016 edition got a sleek and durable metal frame with a brushed metal finish on the back. The smartphone flaunts a 5.2 inch Super AMOLED HD display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixel.

Under the hood Galaxy J5 (2016 edition) got a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8916 Quad Core processor coupled with 2GB RAM and an internal memory of 16GB that can be further expanded using microSD card.

On the photography side, the Galaxy J5 (2016 edition) comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel selfie camera with both having LED flash support. Covering all Indian 4G bands, the dual-SIM smartphones supports 4G LTE with VoLTE, 3G and 2G network options along with WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity.

The smartphone runs on the latest Android v6 Marshmallow operating system with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top. The mobile also comes with a battery of 3100 mAh claiming to offer one full day usage.

With an almost similar design of Galaxy J5 (2016 edition), the Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 edition flaunts a bigger 5.5 inch Super AMOLED full HD display and powered by a 1.6 GHz S5E7870 Exynos 7870 Octa Core processor coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage that can be further expanded using microSD card.

Other specification remaining the same, Galaxy J7 (2016 edition) also got a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel selfie camera with both having an aperture of f/1.9 and an LED flash support.

The dual SIM Galaxy J5 (2016 edition) got 4G LTE with VoLTE and supports all 4G bands in India. Other connectivity options include 3G, 2G, WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC.

One main highlight of both smartphones is the S Bike Mode that helps to have uninterrupted bike riding. Once activated using NFC tag, whenever you get a call during bike riding, a pre-recorded message informs the caller that you are currently riding. And if you insist on taking a call, the Motion Lock feature ensures that you can attend the call only after stopping the bike safely.
