Bigger, Better and now more powerful! During the Galaxy Unpacked event in New York yesterday, Samsung unveiled its most premium phablet smartphone, the next generation Galaxy Note 10. As if the already mega screen size is not enough, the company has launched not one, but two Galaxy Note 10 devices. The so-called compact 6.3-inch Galaxy Note 10 and the 6.8-inch Galaxy Note 10+, the biggest Galaxy Note series ever.

Both Samsung Galaxy Note 10 devices share a fair amount of hardware, except in the display, RAM, storage and battery department. They both got the elegant design with edge-to-edge Cinematic Infinity Display that’s nearly bezel-less with just a hole-punch front camera distraction. Both the devices packs powerful performance and productivity tools with additional help from the enhanced S Pen.

For the bigger Galaxy Note 10+ price starts at Rs 79,999, that’s for the 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage combo. There would also be a 12GB RAM and 512GB storage combo available for Galaxy Note 10+, however, the company has not yet revealed the price of the same.

Pre-booking for Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series starts on 8th August 2019, while the actual sale day would be 23rd August 2019. The smartphone will be available through online retailers like Amazon India, Flipkart, Tata Cliq, Paytm Mall and Samsung’s own online store. You could also get a hold on the device via selected Samsung branded retail outlets across India.

As an earlier buyer, you would get Rs 6000 cashback on purchase of Galaxy Note 10 via HDFC Bank credit or debits cards. Also, you could get the Galaxy Watch Active at a special price of Rs 9,999, down from its existing retail price of Rs 19,990.

The two sizes

Talking about the display, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 flaunts a 6.3-inch FHD+ dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O display with a resolution of 2280 by 1080 pixels and 401ppi. While the Galaxy Note 10+ flaunts a 6.8-inch Quad HD+ dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O display with a much better resolution of 3040 by 1440 pixels and 498ppi.

The Infinity-O display here refers to the hole punch for the front camera, just like the Samsung Galaxy S 10. However, in Galaxy Note 10 it’s in the top-centre. The displays are also HDR10+ certified and also got Dynamic Tone Mapping.

Powerful Performance

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series packs company’s first 7-nanometer processor, the Exynos 9825. Note that, this processor is exclusive for the Indian market (and some other Asian markets). The international version of the devices packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. Paired with this processor would be a solo 8GB RAM and 256GB storage option for Galaxy Note 10. There is no microSD card slot on the device.

In Galaxy Note 10+, you could choose from two options, the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage combo or the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage combo. However, here you could expand the storage up to 1TB using a microSD card.

With the big screen in hand, you would definitely use it for gaming. Thus Samsung has incorporated the world’s slimmest vapor chamber cooling system in Galaxy Note 10 that keeps your phone cool from gameplay and yet the device is form factor is slim and sleek. There is also an AI-based Game Booster, that optimizes performance and power consumption depending on the game. For PC gamers, the PlayGalaxy Link P2P streaming service offers convenient gameplay on the move with no need for local storage. Both Samsung Galaxy Note 10 runs on Android 9 Pie with company’s One UI.

Pro-Graded Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 boasts a triple camera setup. It’s a combination of 16-megapixel ultra-wide sensor featuring f/2.2 and 123-degree field-of-view. Then there is the next 12-megapixel sensor with a variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/2.4, a 77-degree field-of-view and optical image stabilisation. Finally, there’s the 12-megapixel telephoto sensor featuring f/2.1, 45-degree field-of-view and OIS.

The Galaxy Note 10+ boasts the same camera setup as Note 10, but there is an additional VGA DepthVision sensor. It can be used to take 3D scans of objects and instantly turn it into a movable 3D rendering.

Upfront, both the devices got the 10-megapixel autofocus camera in the hole-punch, featuring f/2.2 and 80-degree of field-of-view.

As you expect from a pro-grade camera, the Galaxy Note 10 series helps you to shoot epic photos and videos. There are four live focus modes – Blur, Big Circle, Colour Point, and Glitch which allows you to apply special effects on photos and videos real-time.

Another interesting feature is the  Zoom-in Mic which efficiently utilized the three mics set up to control the sound around you as you zoom in or out. For example, you could tap a portion or person in a video recording and have their sound or that portion of sound enhanced in the final video.

Uni-body S Pen

S Pen now comes with more enhanced capabilities and powerful integrations with Samsung Galaxy Note 10. It’s now built on the Bluetooth Low Energy and can offer up to 10 hours of standby time. It can now follow your movements with Air actions that were first introduced in Galaxy Note 9. In addition, you could also use it for writing, drawing, and a certain level of control.

Your handwritten notes (via S Pen) on the devices can be instantly converted to digital text in Samsung Notes. You could also easily exported it to a variety of different formats, including PDF, Microsoft Word.

Connectivity

Finally, to the connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series comes with Dual SIM option (a hybrid slim slot for Galaxy Note 10+). It supports 4G LTE Cat.20 with up to 2Gbps download speeds, Wi-Fi 802.11ax with support for VHT80 MU-MIMO and 1024QAM that could offer up to 1.2Gbps download and upload speed, Bluetooth 5.0, ANT+, USB Type-C and NFC. Samsung Pay is supported with both NFC and MST payment technology. For security, both Galaxy Note 10 boasts an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner. The speakers and AKG-tuned Type-C earphones (included in-box) offer stereo audio enhanced by Dolby Atmos.

Powering the Galaxy Note 10 is a 3500mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging. While Galaxy Note 10+ packs a bigger 4300mAh battery and supports even faster charging with 45W charger.
