When everyone is talking about the flagship Galaxy S9 series, the Korean mobile vendor Samsung has quietly launched it’s Galaxy J7 Prime 2 in India. The mid-range android smartphone is also the successor to the two-year-old original Galaxy J7 Prime.

However, unlike its old phone, the newer Galaxy J7 Prime 2 boasts premium metal unibody design, 13-megapixel front and rear camera, some unique software experience with Samsung Mall and 4G VoLTE support.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime 2 is priced at Rs 13,990 and will be available in two colour choices – Black and Gold. You could purchase the smartphone from Samsung India’s online e-store or from any offline Samsung retail stores across India.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime 2 Specification and Features

Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime 2 sports a metal unibody design. It flaunts a 5.5-inch FHD PLS TFT LCD display with a screen resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. The display is protected with a 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass on top. Under the hood, the mobile is powered by a 1.6GHz Exynos7 series Octa-Core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. For storage, the mobile comes with 32GB of internal storage, which you can expand up to 256GB using microSD card. The phone runs on Android Nougat OS out-of-the-box, which seems to be an outdated OS for a 2018 smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime 2 launched in India

Coming to photography, the Galaxy J7 Prime 2 boasts a 13-megapixel camera at the rear, as well as on the front for selfies. Both cameras feature f/1.9 aperture lens. However, the rear camera unit comes with autofocus and LED Flash support.

For connectivity, Galaxy J7 Prime 2 support 4G LTE network that works with every Indian telecom operators 4G band. You also get 4G VoLTE support with the phone, allowing you to make HD voice and video calls. Other connectivity options include 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz, and Bluetooth 4.1. There is also a fingerprint scanner, embedded in the front home button. Fuelling the device is a 3300mAh battery, which can offer up to 15-hours of LTE internet usage.

The Samsung Mall

On the software side, Samsung has included its unique ‘Make for India’ app named Samsung Mall. It’s an AI-powered visual shopping app that allows you to shoot and search for your favourite products across multiple Indian online shopping sites. With “Universal Cart” you can add products from across different stores to a single cart and checkout at ease. For the all-in-one shopping, Samsung has tied up with Amazon India, Jabong, Shopclues and Tata CLiQ.

In addition, the Galaxy J7 Prime 2 also comes with Samsung Pay mini, which is sadly not the full-fledged Samsung Pay. Still, it allows you to make instant payment online and offline via UPI and mobile wallets.
