So there is the S6 successor you were waiting for! Samsung during the MWC 2016 has officially launched it’s 2016 flagship smartphones – the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge with dual edge display and the standard Samsung Galaxy S7.

Going full on premium, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy S7 made with 3D glass and metal structure that has ergonomic curve edges. With IP68 certification, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy S7 are both resistant to water and dust. It actually can stay for half an hour in 1.5 meters of water without taking any damages.

Galaxy S7 flaunts a 5.1 inch Quad HD super AMOLED display with a 2560×1440 pixels resolution, whereas the Galaxy S7 edge got a bigger 5.5-inch display along with dual edge display on both left and right sides that come with new Edge UX. The mobile got an Always-on display just like the LG G5 offering a quick glance of your information.

Samsung launches Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy S7 smartphones

Samsung Galaxy S7 packs some of the finest hardware with a 64bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor or the Samsung’s own Octa-core Exynos 8890 64-bit processor (mostly for Asian countries including India) coupled with 4GB RAM. It got up to 64GB internal storage that can be expanded using microSD card, which also work as your second SIM slot with its hybrid SIM setup.

On the camera side, the Galaxy S7 comes with a Dual Pixel camera on the back that has a 12-megapixel lens featuring f/1.7 aperture and 1.4um pixel sensor offering supreme image quality under low light conditions. On the front, it got a 5-megapixel camera for your wide angle selfies.

Vulkan API & Liquid vapor Cooling

For gamers out there, Samsung has included Vulkan API that’s replaces the OpenGL ES as the new standard for gaming. It also packs a game launcher mode that optimizes the battery consumption and minimizes notifications along with offering quick buttons to easily capture and record gaming sessions. In addition, the smartphone comes with an integrated liquid vapor cooling system that keeps the mobile from overheating while working with heavy duty applications.

Both smartphones pack everything from global 4G LTE network, 3G, 2G, WiFi, NFC and Bluetooth. The smartphone also comes with fingerprint scanner integrated onto the front physical home button and also got the dual-SIM capability. The mobile runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top.

Coming to the pricing, Samsung has yet not announced the price, but will start selling from mid-March 2016 in India.

Update (8th March 2016) – Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in India with price starting at Rs 48,900 for Galaxy S7 32GB variant and Rs 56,900 for Galaxy S7 edge 32GB variant. Pre-booking for the smartphones has already started and the company will be packing a free Gear VR headset along with pre-booked orders.
