It’s time to ditch those old landline phones with those lengthy copper wire strings attached, that breaks every now and then. Time to move on to the digital revolution. Indian telecom operator Reliance Communications (RCom) has launched India’s first ever 4G VoLTE HomePhone.

The fixed wireless phone, which RCom calls 4G LTE HomePhone comes with 4G VoLTE connectivity. It can offer HD quality voice calls using Voice over LTE, as well as send and receive SMS. In addition, you can use it to access high-speed 4G data. The HomePhone also act as a WiFi hotspot router and can share 4G internet with up to eight devices.

Reliance Communications launches India’s First 4G VoLTE HomePhone

The RCom 4G LTE HomePhone or Wi-Bridge (RM4G234) is basically an android powered device with the form factor of landline phones. It got a 3.5-inch TFT colour display through which you can view voice call logs, send and receive SMS and cascade digital contents. The one feature specified on RCom website is the cascading of YouTube to Smart TV, but details about this feature aren’t known yet.

Interested in the 4G VoLTE HomePhone? RCom has also announced a couple of plans specifically for this device. The 4G Smart Life 299 plan which comes with a monthly rental of Rs 299 offers subscribers 300 minutes VoLTE HD voice call minutes to anywhere and to any network in India. It also comes with high-speed 4G data benefits of 2 GB.

The 4G Smart Life 499 plan offers the same benefits of 4G Smart Life 299 plan, but with an increased 4G data benefits of 4 GB. After the free voice calling minutes, subscribers will be charged at flat 40 paisa per minute for all voice calls. SMS, however, will be chargeable at 25 paise per local SMS and 38 paise for STD SMS.

Earlier RCom migrated its CDMA subscribers to GSM network to launched its 4G LTE service – Reliance 4G. The 4G service being provided by leveraging Reliance Jio’s 4G network.
