Ever thought why you can’t just use both front and back camera together to capture photos and videos? Well, that’s happened today with Nokia launching first on a mobile phone, where you can use both front and back cameras simultaneously for split-screen photos and video. HMD Global the company who is the exclusive mobile vendor for Nokia brand has launched the flagship android device – Nokia 8.

Nokia 8 comes after the much applaud Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3. But unlike all other Nokia android smartphones launched till date, the new device boasts top-notch hardware specification, one of the kind camera tech, premium design and latest Android experience.

Design and Power

With lots of similarities of Nokia 6, the Nokia 8 machined from a single block of 6000 series aluminum and it’s been polished to a mirror finish. The metal unibody construction is quite slim with an overall size of 151.5mm x 73.7mm x 7.9mm. Even with the slim metal body, the company had made sure heat get’s dissipate fast. For that, underneath the mobile cover, you have a full-length copper cooling pipe with graphite shield that can dissipate heat across the full body of the phone. Protecting it is the splash proof IP54 rating which will save your mobile from rains and accidental water splash. To add a bit too premium, you can choose from Polished Blue, Tempered Blue, Steel, and Polished Copper colour options.

Nokia 8 unveiled with Dual-Sight mode, ZEISS optics, Snapdragon 835

Up front, the Nokia 8 flaunts a 5.3-inch IPS QHD or 2K resolution (2560 x 1440) polarized display with a 700nits of brightness. Protecting the gorgeous display is the 2.5D covered sculpted Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Underneath, the mobile is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform that has 4×2.5GHz Qualcomm Kryo CPU and 4×1.8GHz Kryo. The best-in-class processor is parted with 4GB of LPPDDR4X RAM. To store all your photos, videos and media content, the mobile carries 64GB of UFS2.1 internal storage. You can further expand the storage up to 256GB using microSD card.

Dual-Sight Camera and OZO audio

One of the major highlights of Nokia 8 is the dual camera setup at the rear and the dual-sight camera mode. On the rear, the mobile boasts a 13-megapixel sensor for capturing in RGB or colour and another 13-megapixel monochrome sensor. The primary sensor features an Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), PDAF support, f/2.0 aperture, IR range finder, and dual tone flash. Up front for capturing your cute selfies, the mobile comes with a 13-megapixel phase detection autofocus front camera. It also features f/2.0 aperture, 78.4-degree wide-angle and displays flash.

What makes thing more unique is both front and back camera is equipped with highly acclaimed Carl ZEISS optics. The same optics used to develop PureView camera you loved in old Nokia phone and Nokia Windows Phones (like the Nokia 808 and Lumia 925).

Adding to the stunning camera in Nokia 8 is an industry first ‘Dual-Sight mode’ where you can use both front and back cameras simultaneously for split-screen photos and video. In addition, the mobile comes with built-in streaming support. So, you can instantly start live streaming on Facebook Live and YouTube Live.

To match with the 4K video capturing, Nokia 8 features Nokia OZO spatial 360-degree audio built into its core. The mobile features three microphones to capture 360-degree spatial surround sound. With Audio Focus you can even capture a specific audio while reducing ambient sounds and other background noise.

Connectivity

Finally coming to connectivity, the Nokia 8 will be available in hybrid SIM variants. This allows you to have either two SIM or one SIM with a microSD card. The mobile comes with 4G LTE network that will support every Indian telcos 4G bands. It also supports VoLTE for making HD voice and video calls. Other connectivity options include 3G and 2G network, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (MIMO), Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC (sharing) ANT+. For extra security, the mobile also packs a fingerprint scanner embedded in the front home button. To fuel the mobile you get a 3090mAh non-removable battery supporting Quick Charge 3.0.

Just like other Nokia android smartphones, the Nokia 8 comes with Android Nougat 7.1.1 operating system. The best part Nokia has to keep the OS on the stock with no unnecessary extras. The company also guarantees regular security updates.

If you are interested in purchasing Nokia 8, then the mobile will go on sale in Europe for 599 Euro or approximately Rs 45,000. HMD Global has not yet announced the mobile availability in India but we can expect it to arrive by September 2017.
