Within months of launching budget-range Nokia 5, Nokia 3 and Nokia 2, HMD Global the company behind Nokia smartphones are bringing in their mid-range android smartphones to India. The mobile vendor has officially launched the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus in India.

Both these smartphones have a similar front and back glass design with a display notch up in the screen. Artificial Intelligence or AI, assist the rear dual cameras and front selfie camera of these smartphones, which help to create a photo that’s uniquely yours. As with all new Nokia phones, both of them run on Android One offering pure android experience. The best part, the company already guarantees the upgradability to the latest Android 9 Pie.

First, to the pricing, Nokia 6.1 Plus with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage will come with a price tag of Rs 15,999. It will be available exclusively via Flipkart and Nokia India store starting 30th August 2018. Whereas, you would need to wait till the first or second week of September 2018 for the Nokia 5.1 Plus and company has yet to announce the pricing of the same.

Nokia 6.1 Plus Specification and Features

As you expect from any Nokia phones, the Nokia 6.1 Plus got a solid build with aluminium frame design encased in Corning Gorilla Glass in the front and back. The mobile flaunts a 5.8-inch full HD+ LCD display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and 432 ppi. As you guess correctly, the display has a small cut-out or notch at the top packing the front camera and other sensors.

Powering the Nokia 6.1 Plus is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor coupled with 4 GB of LPPDDR4x RAM. For storage, you get 64 GB of e-MMC 5.1 internal storage, which you could expand up to 400GB using microSD card.

Coming to photography, the Nokia 6.1 Plus boasts a dual rear camera, that’s assisted by AI. This includes a 16-megapixel main camera unit featuring f/2.0 aperture and a 5-megapixel secondary camera featuring f/2.4 aperture. For selfies, the mobile comes with a 16-megapixel front camera featuring a f/2.0 aperture. The cameras support HDR imaging technology which can capture crisper and sharper images, along with EIS technology for a stable visual effect.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with 4G LTE which also supports VoLTE for HD voice calling. Other connectivity options include 3G and 2G network options, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 5.0. Luckily you also get a 3.5 mm headphone jack option. There is a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device. Finally, fuelling the device is a 3060 battery with support for quick charging.

Coming to Nokia 5.1 Plus it got a polycarbonate frame encased in 2.5D curvature front and back glass. The mobile flaunts a 5.86-inch HD+ edge-to-edge display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Yes, it also gets a notch at the top of the screen. The mobile is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM. For storage, you get 32GB of internal memory, which you could expand up to 400GB using microSD card.

Nokia 5.1 Plus India launch

Coming to photography, Nokia 5.1 Plus also sports a dual rear camera. It’s a combination of 13-megapixel primary camera featuring f/2 aperture and PDAF. Combined with a 5-megapixel depth sensor. In the front for selfies, the mobile comes with an 8-megapixel shooter featuring f/2.2 aperture and 80.4 FoV. The AI assistance in the phone can help you create bokeh blur effects.
