After unveiling the reloaded version of Nokia 8110 at Mobile World Congress 2018, HMD Global the mobile brand behind Nokia Smartphones has come up with its most affordable android smartphone – Nokia 1. It’s also one of the first smartphones to run Google’s super optimized Android Oreo (Go edition) OS and Android Go apps.

Nokia 1 have a tough two-tone polycarbonate shell with exchangeable Xpress-on back covers. The phone flaunts a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS (854×480) display. Under the hood, it’s powered by a 1.1GHz MT6737M MediaTek Quad Core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. It carries 8GB of eMMC internal storage, which you can upgrade up to 128GB using microSD card.

The main highlight of Nokia 1 is that it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) operating system. The super optimized version of Android built by Google for phones with 1GB RAM or less. Well, it doesn’t hold back as you get full access to Google Play Store, from where you can install your favourite apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and more. However you could also choose special Go apps like Youtube Go, Google Go, Google Maps Go which is specially optimized for the OS. The best part, the phone has no unnecessary apps or hidden processes eating up your battery life and phone memory. Nokia has adopted pure Android approach on its phones, thus you always get the latest OS updates for your phone.

For photography, the Nokia 1 boasts a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash support. For your selfies, the mobile features a 2-megapixel front camera. Coming to connectivity, you could enjoy 4G LTE connectivity on both SIM cards (Dual SIM). It also supports 3G and 2G connectivity along with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS/AGPS. Finally fuelleing the device is a 2150 mAh removable battery that offers up to 9 hours of talk time or up to 15 days of standby time.

Nokia 1 would the most affordable Android smartphone from the company and globally it will retail for $85. That’s around Rs 5500 in India and it will have an upper hand against phones under the 6K range in the Indian market.
