HMD Global the mobile vendor behind Nokia phones have officially launched its most affordable android smartphone Nokia 1 in India. The phone which runs on Google’s super optimized Android Oreo (Go edition) OS was announced first during the Mobile World Congress 2018.

As a budget android smartphone, the Nokia 1 will retail for a price tag of Rs 5,499. Instead of going exclusively through an online-only medium, the company will be pushing the phone through its offline mobile phone outlets, spread across India. You would be able to purchase the smartphone from this offline mobile stores starting 28th March 2018.

HMD Global has also teamed up with Indian telecom operator Reliance Jio to further bring down the effective price of the phone. Users buying Nokia 1 and using it with Reliance Jio could avail the JioFootball cash back offer. Under this, you would get an instant Rs 2,200 cash back from Jio, bring the cost of the phone to Rs 3,299.

Nokia 1 Features and Specification

Nokia 1 features a tough two-tone polycarbonate shell with exchangeable Xpress-on back covers. It flaunts a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS (854×480) display. Under the hood, the mobile is powered by a 1.1GHz MT6737M MediaTek Quad Core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. It carries 8GB of internal storage, which you can upgrade up to 128GB using microSD card.

Don’t worry about the low-powerful hardware, as it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) OS. The super optimized version of Android built by Google for phones with 1GB RAM or less. You still get full access to Google Play store, from where you can install your favourite apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and more. However you could also choose special Go apps like Youtube Go, Google Go, Google Maps Go which is specially optimized for the OS.
