Google announced , at the Q4 Financial Results Press Release, that Eric Schmidt will resign as CEO and Larry Page(co-founder) will take his post from April 4th 2011. Page, who served as Google’s first CEO from 1998 to 2001, will take over Google’s day-to-day operations, while Schmidt will assume the role of executive chairman of Google, “focusing externally on deals, partnerships, customers and broader business relationships, government outreach and technology thought leadership,” Google said in a statement. He will continue to act as an internal advisor to Page and Google’s other co-founder, Sergey Brin, who oversees Google’s strategic projects, Schmidt explained in a blog post.

“Larry will now lead product development and technology strategy, his greatest strengths, and starting from April 4 he will take charge of our day-to-day operations as Google’s Chief Executive Officer. In this new role I know he will merge Google’s technology and business vision brilliantly. I am enormously proud of my last decade as CEO, and I am certain that the next 10 years under Larry will be even better! Larry, in my clear opinion, is ready to lead.” said Eric Schmidt, current CEO stated on Google’s Official Blog.

In 2001, Mr Schmidt took over as CEO of the Company. Now in his new position, he will be focusing externally on “deals, partnerships, customers and broader business relationships, government outreach and technology thought leadership’’. Besides, he would continue to act as an advisor to Mr Page and co-founder Mr Sergey Brin.
Mr. Schmidt revealed that the management reshuffle aims to “streamline decision making and create clearer lines of responsibility and accountability” at the top of the company.

“We’ve been talking about how best to simplify our management structure and speed up decision making for a long time. By clarifying our individual roles, we’ll create clearer responsibility and accountability at the top of the company,” Mr Schmidt said.

So changes are coming over Google, we will have to wait and see.
