Do you need a smartphone that can withstand the spills, splashes and even puddles of water? Introducing Moto X4 android smartphone, the newest entrant to the Indian mobile market from Motorola backed by Lenovo.
The most touted feature of Moto X4? it’s the IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. The mobile also packs a slew of powerful hardware like Snapdragon SoC, dual camera at the back, 16-megapixel selfie camera with LED flash, pure Android experience and 4G VoLTE.
Cutting the chase, the Moto X4 is priced in the mid-range segment and will retail for a price tag starting Rs 20,999 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. Whereas, the higher-memory model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage will retail for Rs 22,999. Both this variant will be available exclusively via Flipkart [Flipkart.com/MotoX4] and Moto Hub stores starting 14th November 2017.
Design and Performance
Talking about design, the Moto X4 excel with an anodized aluminum frame which is completely encased in glass with a 3D contoured back. There is also a reflective film placed under the glass surface giving it a premium feel from every angle. Another important part of the design is the IP68 water resistance rating, that protects the phone from accidental spills, splashes and rain.
The Moto X4 flaunts a 5.2-inch LTPS IPS full HD 1080×1920 display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. Actually, you get the Corning Gorilla Glass protection on both front and back of the device. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 2.2 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor paired with 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM and 650 MHz Adreno 508 GPU.
Making the device ultra smooth to use, is the stock Android 7.1 Nougat OS. The company also guarantees Android O upgrade in the coming months. For storage, the Moto X4 carries either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. You can further expand the storage up to 2 TB using microSD card.
Another attractive part of Moto X4 is its camera unit. On the back, the device boasts a dual camera setup with a 12-megapixel standard lens and an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens. You get an f2.0 aperture on the 12-megapixel dual autofocus Pixel sensor, whereas the 8-megapixel unit has an f2.2 aperture. Other features packed in the camera includes CCT dual LED flash, PDAF, Ultra-wide angle shot and a bunch of camera modes.
Some features of the camera we found interesting is the selective focus or bokeh effect mode. Here you can add a blur effect to the background or foreground of images while keeping the main subject in crystal clear focus. There is also a selective black + white mode, which can change the image background or foreground to black and white while keeping the main subject in full colour. In addition, the camera also comes with landmark recognition and object recognition.
For selfie addicts, the Moto X4 sports a 16-megapixel front camera. It also features f2.0 aperture, selfie flashlight and a 4-megapixel adaptive low light mode.
For connectivity, Moto X4 comes with 4G LTE that support every Indian telco 4G bands. You also get full 4G VoLTE support for making HD voice and video calls. Well, you can get Bluetooth 5.0 on the phone, but after the device gets the Android O upgrade.
