Moto E3 Power by Lenovo is the latest addition to the Moto E family. It is the first MediaTek powered Motorola phone that the company dared to unveil in India. Nevertheless, to say Moto E3 Power sports a classy design outperforming other members of its family and sticking to the 10k bracket.

The E3 Power features a 5 inch IPS LCD HD display, under the hood specs include 1GHz Quad-core Mediatek processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and expandable memory slot. The cameras, 8 MP rear and 5MP front, however, are a little disappointment. Let’s break down and analyze the various departments.

Moto E3 Power Hands on review

Ergonomics & Design

The Moto E3 Power is light weighted, about 153.5g, with a textured back panel for easy grip. The all-plastic splash-proof body comes with a nano coating on the outside as well as inside. All buttons lie aptly on the right side of the device, leaving other ports as usual. The modish design with the Moto dimple in the back will allure attention.

Performance

The display is typical, having a fairly rich pixel density with average visibility in sunlight. The touch response is fast enough. Large front firing mono speaker onboard produces awesome sound experience. Call and signal quality is decent. We hardly noticed any reported issues like poor ear piece audibility. We can have two SIMs and SD card at the same time due to separate slot provision.

Coming to the photography segment, the Moto E3 Power cameras can take good quality snaps. The HDR and dynamic range are also good. The secondary camera is not wide angle, but still giving decent selfie shots even in dim light. We can only record videos in HD quality (720p) with both cameras.

Moto E3 Power Review - Camera features

E3 Power’s user interface presents us a stock android 6.0 experience. We get about 12GB of workable space from internal memory. The dedicated card slot gives you an added storage space up to 32GB. Gaming performance of E3 Power is acceptable. Light games like Angry Birds, Subway Surfer etc ran without hiccups. But heavy gaming like Modern Combat 5, was a disaster with frame drops and lags.

E3 Power features a beefy 3500mAh removable battery which can provide enough juice for a day and a half. The quick charging gets it refilled in just 60 minutes. Moto claims that it will provide up to 5 hours of battery life with just 15 minutes of charging.

Tips & Tricks

While operating the E3 Power, we noticed the usual gallery app was missing. We suggest the QuikPic gallery app as an alternative. From the lock screen, you can double press the power button to quick launch the camera app. As usual, you can enable the system UI tuner by touching and holding the settings icon in the notification panel. There is also a preinstalled app called Device Help, in which you can test and diagnose the hardware of E3 Power.

Inside the box

We will find the handset, battery, charger, data cable, and wired headset. There is an additional screen protector, warranty, and other documentations. The color of accessories was pure white and we didn’t like the combination.

Moto E3 Power Review - Design and Performance

Overall experience

The device didn’t meet our expectations in all aspects. On comparison with rivals, the camera quality is average, the gaming experience is acceptable and all blame is on weak MediaTek chipset. Moreover, E3 Power isn’t officially enlisted for Nougat update as per the latest blog post. One thing to say, this is no MediaTek toaster, but a nice Moto phone. At the end of the day, the Moto E3 Power is strictly targeting Moto fans.
