One of the biggest issue with entry-level smartphones is its ultra-low battery capacity. With 4G and VoLTE usage these small batteries usually last only half a day of usage. Countering that, Indian mobile vendor Micromax has unveiled its newest android smartphone under the Bharat series, the Bharat 5 which packs a big battery at its back.

The main USP of the Micromax Bharat 5 is its 5000mAh battery capacity, which company claims to offer 500 hours on standby. Other features of the mobile include HD display, 5-megapixel front and back camera, expandable storage option and 4G VoLTE support.

The company has however chosen the offline route to sell the smartphone. You could buy the Bharat 5 from offline retail stores across India under a price tag of Rs 5,555. The company has partnered with Indian telco Vodafone India to offer buyers additional 10GB of data for five months on a recharge of 1GB data plan.

The Micromax Bharat 5 got a polycarbonate body with only one colour option to choose from – Black. The mobile flaunts a 5.2-inch HD IPS display covered in 2.5D glass. Under the hood, its powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor paired with 1GB of RAM. The mobile runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS, with no news about the future upgrade to Android Oreo. For storage, the mobile carries 16GB of internal storage. You can further expand the storage up to 64GB using microSD card. It also comes preloaded with support for 22 Indian regional languages.

For photography, the Micromax Bharat 5 sports a 5-megapixel auto-focus back camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash support. In the front, there is another 5-megapixel selfie camera, which is also accompanied by a selfie flash. Coming to connectivity, the mobile supports 4G LTE that works with every Indian telcos 4G bands. You also get 4G VoLTE support for making HD voice and video calls. Other connectivity options include 3G and 2G network support, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth. Finally fuelling the whole device is a massive 5000mAh battery.
