Cheaper and more affordable smartphones/feature phones, subsidised/offer packed by Indian telecom operators are taking mainstream in Indian mobile market. After the successful partnership with state-run telecom operator BSNL, the home-grown mobile vendor Micromax has next joined hands Vodafone India to launch an affordable 4G android smartphone.

Introducing, Micromax Bharat 2 Ultra a 4G VoLTE capable android smartphone. Effectively, you can get the budget smartphone at a price tag of Rs 999 when combined with Vodafone India’s special offer. The mobile will be available in stores and Vodafone stores across India from the first week of November.

Having said that, the combination of Micromax and Vodafone India on the Bharat 2 Ultra is somewhat a replica of Airtel’s combination with Karbonn on A40 Indian.

The Vodafone Mobile Plan Rs 150

Coming to the fine print of the offer, you will have to shell out Rs 2,899 to actually purchase the Micromax Bharat 2 Ultra smartphone. Then with a Vodafone India connection (new or existing), you have to recharge for a minimum denomination of Rs 150 every month for next three years. Vodafone India has yet to reveal the special Rs 150 mobile plan bundled with the mobile.

Micromax Bharat 2 Ultra launched in Partnership with Vodafone India for Rs 999

At the end of 18 months, you will get a cashback of Rs 900. Then, at the end of next 18 months (or total 36 months) you will get another cashback of Rs 1000. You will get the cash refunds through Vodafone M-Pesa wallet. So, once you calculate the cash backs, the effective price of the smartphone becomes Rs 999. The best part, you won’t have to give back the smartphone as in the case of Reliance Jio’s JioPhone.

How good is Micromax Bharat 2 Ultra?

Coming down to the specification and features of Micromax Bharat 2 Ultra. The mobile has the exact hardware of Micromax Bharat 2, which was launched a few months back. It flaunts a 4-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 480×800 pixel. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.3GHz Spreadtrum SC9832 quad-core processor coupled with 512MB of RAM. To store your media content the mobile carries 4GB of internal storage. You can further expand the storage up to 32GB via microSD card.

On the camera department, the Micromax Bharat 2 Ultra comes with a 2-megapixel rear camera featuring LED flash support. On the front, the mobile spots a 0.3-megapixel a VGA camera for taking selfies. For connectivity, the mobile supports 4G LTE network that works with every Indian telcos 4G band. In addition, you also get VoLTE support for making HD voice and video calls. Other connectivity options include 3G and 2G network support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The phone runs on a bit old Android v6.0 Marshmallow OS with minimal skin over the top. Finally, a smaller 1300mAh battery fuels the whole device.
