Xiaomi is starting this year with a bang and launching its first android smartphone for 2021, in India. The company has officially launched the Mi 10i smartphone in India. Making it the perfect 10, the smartphone boasts, 108MP rear camera unit with Samsung HM2 sensor, Snapdragon 750G SoC, future-ready with full 5G support and 120Hz display.
On the way, the ‘i’ in the Mi 10i stands for India. The company touts the phone to be heavily customised, keeping the Indian audience in mind.
The Mi 10i is priced in India at Rs Rs 20,999 for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. Whereas if you add a Rs 1000 more, for Rs 21,999 you will get the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option of the phone. Finally, the top-spec modal with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs 23,999. For colour choices, you get to choose from Pacific Sunrise, Midnight Black, and Atlantic Blue.
The Mi 10i is available exclusively through Amazon India, Mi online store, Mi Studio stores, and Mi Home stores from 7th January 2021. It will also be available through Mi retail partner store across the country in the coming weeks. Do note that the January 7th sale is only for Amazon Prime customers and open sale for the phone will begin from 8th January.
The Perfect 10
Xiaomi is pushing the Mi 10i as an all-rounder camera phone. The smartphone boasts quad rear camera unit which houses the primary 108-megapixel Samsung HM2 sensor, featuring 9-in-1 pixel binning, 7P lens and f/1.75 aperture. The other three sensors at the rear include an 8-megapixel 120-degree ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture, a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth-sensing camera.
One of the key highlights of the rear camera is the six Long Exposure modes. This includes Motion portraits, Oil painting, Neon trails, Light painting, Starry sky and Star trails. Other than that, using Time Burst mode you could capture 600 pictures in just 60 seconds, which can be later converted into a video.
Other than the rear camera features HDR, AI scene detection, AI beauty, Google Lens, night mode 2.0, Pro mode, panorama, portrait mode raw mode, and 4k video recording and 30 fps.
In the front, beneath the punch-hole notch of the Mi 10i display is the 16-megapixel front camera. It features f/2.45 aperture can carry features like Night mode 1.0, Time burst, AI Beautify, Panorama selfie, and AI portrait mode.
The Mi 10i boats a 6.67-inch 2.5D fullHD+ DotDisplay with up to 120Hz Intelligent AdaptiveSync refresh rate that can adjust itself to 6 different refresh rates. The display also features fluid scrolling with 8.3ms between frames, a touch sampling rate of 240hz, NTSC 84 per cent colour gamut, peak brightness of 450 nits, and 1500:01 contrast ratio. Further, the display has TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification, along with Reading Mode 3.0 and Sunlight Display 3.0. The front and black glass part of the smartphone is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Under the hood, the Mi 10i carries the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G mobile processor coupled with Adreno 619 GPU and X52 5G modem. It’s paired with up to 8GB RAM LPDDR4x and 128GB of UFS2.2 internal storage. The phone runs on MIUI 12 based on Android 10.
Coming to connectivity, the Mi 10i is future-ready with 5G network support along with dual SIM 4G, VoLTE HD, 3G and 2G. Other connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth, USB Type-C port, IR Blaster, and even a 3.5mm audio jack. There is also a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Finally, the Mi 10i carries a 4820mAh battery with 33W fast charging support that supports dual split charging. In dual split charging, two parallel pathways are charging simultaneously, which offers fast charging. The company claims the phone can be charge from 0 to 100 per cent in 58 minutes.
