Manu Kumar Jain, the head of Indian operation or the Managing Director of Xiaomi India, has been promoted to Vice President of Xiaomi global. He will be replacing the Hugo Barra, who has recently resigned from the post and will head Facebook’s Oculus’ VR efforts.

Under Manu Jain, Xiaomi India has grown from a small team to India’s second-largest smartphone vendor. The Chinese mobile vendor now commands 10.7 percent of Indian smartphone market. The company recently become the number one selling smartphone brand online with 29.3 percent market share in Q4CY16, as per IDC. The company crossed a revenue of one billion dollars in India in the year 2016 alone. One good news for us is that he will still be the managing director of Xiaomi India.

Manu Jain joined Xiaomi way back in May 2014, spearheading all efforts of the mobile vendor in India. Before joining Xiaomi he co-founded and was the managing director of one of India’s top fashion portal Jabong, which recently got acquired by Flipkart. He was also the co-creator of cartoon series – DINK Couple.
