Now you get a power packed, a bezel-less beauty that has balanced 2:1 ratio, seamless curves and protection with the IP68 rating. During the IFA 2017 in Berlin, LG has unveiled its latest flagship android smartphone, the LG V30. It closely follows the footsteps of LG G6 and also much smaller sibling LG Q6 with the large FullVision display. While adapting to the new changes, the mobile has ditched the secondary display of its predecessors LG V20 and LG V10.

Design, Display and Performance

The LG V30 got its large screen with the FullVision display up in the front. On the back, it got a textured glass finish that protects it from stains and smudges. Making the mobile more sturdy and usable in real world situation, it has an IP68 rating and even passed the US Military Standard Drop Test. In terms of dimension, the mobile measures 7.3mm at its thickest and weigh 158g, making it one of lightest 6-inch smartphone available in the market. The mobile flaunts a 6-inch QHD+ OLED FullVision 2880 x 1440 display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. LG has incorporated Plastic OLED for higher flexibility with excellent colour accuracy. You also have a curved 3D glass at the edge of the display, giving it an extra level of viewing experience. We would say it’s one of the perfect screens to watch movies or videos.

You may wonder what happened to the secondary display you usually get from the V series. Well, LG has replaced it with a software hack, the “Floating Bar” docking your favourite apps and other tools.

LG V30 unveiled with 6-inch OLED FullVision display, F1.6 Dual Camera and Snapdragon 835

Under the hood, the LG V30 is powered by 2.45Ghz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. For storing all your media content the mobile comes with 64GB of internal storage option. There is also a higher storage variant called V30+ which carries 128GB of internal storage. You can further upgrade the storage up to 2TB with a MicroSD card. The mobile runs Android 7.1.2 out of the box with LG’s UX 6.0 over the top. With the new Android Oreo release, LG is expected to roll out an update by the end of the year.

Camera and Audio

Coming to photography, the LG V30 sports a dual camera setup at the back. You get a combination of a 16-megapixel camera with industry first F1.6 glass lens. It improves dynamic range and takes low-light capabilities to the next level. It also features OIS, EIS, and Hybrid Auto Focus with Laser Detection Auto Focus and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). The second camera carries a 13-megapixel 120-degree wide-angle lens with EIS. For selfie addicts, the mobile comes with a 5-megapixel 90-degree wide-angle camera with a f/2.2 aperture lens. The cameras come into life with its dedicated camera app that packs various modes and tricks. For example, the “Cine Video Mode” which has around 15 different Cine Effects to choose from and apply before shooting a video.

Supporting the camera, the LG V30 can record Hi-Fi sound with 2 high-quality mics and a receiver that can capture unmuffled and distortion-free sound. For the purest audio experience, the mobile comes with 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, powered by ESS technology. This offers crystal clear high-quality sound by minimizing distortion and ambient noise.

Connectivity

As for connectivity, the LG V30 comes with 4G LTE that will support every Indian telcos 4G band. In addition, the mobile also supports VoLTE for making HD voice and video calls. Other connectivity option includes 3G and 2G network support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 BLE, NFC and USB Type-C. For added security, there is a fingerprint scanner at back of the device below the main camera module. In addition, you can secure your phone with Face Recognition and Voice Recognition based biometric security. The mobile is fueled by a 3,300mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0 and wireless charging.

LG has not yet announced the pricing and availability of LG V30 in any market including India. But with the excellent hardware it packs, you can expect the price to be more than 50K. For colour choices, you get to choose from Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue, Cloud Silver, and Lavender Violet.
