Bringing the love back to small screens, Apple has launched iPhone SE, a 4inch mobile packing all the hardware of iPhone 6s in an almost identical iPhone 5S design. Note, it’s missing the 3D touch.
The new iPhone SE got the same design and aesthetic look of the older iPhone 5S, but with a smaller 4-inch retina display and a matte finish on the edges. The smartphones come in Silver, Gold, Space grey and adding Rose Gold to the combination.
Under the hood iPhone SE got a way different story compared to the older iPhone 5S. The new Apple smartphone packs the hardware of its latest flagship iPhone 6S with a 64-bit A9 processor coupled with M9 co-processor, that offers almost 2x faster CPU performance and 3X faster GPU performance than iPhone 5S.
The smartphone got an upgraded 12-megapixel iSight camera that can shoot 4K videos and comes with Live Photos that captures a few second video before the photo capture. On the front, the mobile got a 1.2-megapixel FaceTime HD camera for the perfect selfie and comes with Retina flash.
iPhone SE comes with the 4GLTE capability (supporting all 4G LTE bands in India) along with Voice over LTE, 3G, 2G network support. The smartphone also got 802.11 AC Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC support. On the software front, iPhone SE runs on latest iOS 9.3 with always-on ‘Hey Siri‘ feature.

Now the big thing, Apple has priced iPhone SE 16GB variant at $399 (Rs 26,500 approximately), while the 64GB variant priced at $499 (Rs 33,200 approximately). There is no Indian specific price been announced during the event, so we can expect much higher price than the near dollar conversation.
Apple iPhone SE will go on sale on March 31st, 2016 in a couple of countries excluding India and we can expect the new iPhone to land in India by the end of May.
Update – Apple iPhone SE will go on sale in India on April 8th, 2016 with a price tag of Rs 39,000 for the 16GB variant.
