Google Trends is one of the unique tools that lets you take popular Google search queries and explore traffic patterns over time and geography. Expanding Google Trends functionality Google has incorporated YouTube search data going way back to 2008, which lets you get more insights on video trends.
This new addition brings in a whole new way to get more insight on trending video topics. As an example, here’s the video trend of top three Bollywood movies “Ek Tha Tiger, Jab Tak Hain Jaan and Talaash” from 2012. You can clearly see how SalamnKhan’s Ek Tha Tiger beat out the other two movies by miles on Youtube (full insight here).
To use the feature visit Google Trends and enter any search you’d like to get insight on and then, on the left, choose “limit to” for YouTube. In addition you can vary the pattern by region or category or time period as well.
With billions of search queries each month Youtube data can provide more than accurate insight on video trends.
