Google officially says goodbye to Google Buzz its failed attempt to social networking and a much talked rival for Twitter and also Facebook. In a few weeks Google will shut down Google Buzz and the Buzz API, and its done for focusing more on Google+, its brand new social networking platform. While people obviously won’t be able to create new posts after that, they will be able to view their existing content on their Google Profile, and download it using Google Takeout.
Now on when you sign-in to gmail you will be greeted with a yellow notice which reads, “Google Buzz is going away, but your posts are yours to keep.” All posts that have been posted on Google buzz can be accessed, via your Google profile, or you can download your full Google Buzz history using Google Takeout, which lets you download an archive of your data from various Google services.
Bradley Horowitz, Vice President, Product announced this news on Google blog saying ” Changing the world takes focus on the future, and honesty about the past. We learned a lot from products like Buzz, and are putting that learning to work every day in our vision for products like Google+. Our users expect great things from us; today’s announcements let us focus even more on giving them something truly awesome.”
