Eying the massive Diwali festive season, Google Nexus 7 goes on sale in India, with the 16GB base version priced at Rs 19,990. Asus India has officially announced the launch of the Nexus 7 in India which is going for sales tomorrow, on November 8. Nexus 7 16GB version equips the Wi-Fi only option, but the newly announced Nexus 7 32GB version ( Wi-Fi and 3G option) seems to be not making way to India soon. The tablet is currently being listed in some India online retails stores like Croma retail and from tomorrow offline retails will start selling it.
According to TOI, Alex Huang, managing director of system business group at ASUS India said “We will start selling Nexus 7 in Indian stores from tomorrow“. Asus was ready to launch the tablet in India sooner, but waiting for final approval from Google.

The 16GB nexus 7 tablet seems to be priced a little steep, as the same model only cost $199 which is roughly Rs 11,000 in US. If we also consider the tax and other import duties a price of Rs 12,000 to Rs 14,000 should be a fair amount, considering Nexus 7 has been placed by Google as a budget friendly tablet taking on iPad, iPad mini and Kindle fire tablets. With this high price we need to see how price conscious Indian customers accept the Google’s flagship tablet.
