Google is trying to redefine your laptop experience with their latest high-performance Chromebook, the Google Pixelbook. This all in one device was unveiled during the Google event on 4th October 2017 at San Francisco. Let’s explore the features of this new Pixelbook that makes it versatile with perfect hardware and software combination.
Pixelbook is a perfect example of how to combine the best of hardware and software with AI at the centre. In fact, its sleek design makes you even forget about the device if you carry it around, and you might have to double check the bag.
The Pixelbook adapts a 4-in-1 design, which transforms in many ways as you want to use it. Use it as a laptop when you are most productive. Fold its keyboard underneath to use as a tablet for watching videos, reading news and books. You can also prop it up as a tent, to share the screen with your roommates etc. The Pixelbook easily adapts to fit anywhere in an office, home, classroom, flight etc. The corning gorilla glass inlay on the lid gives it a refined look and also improves wireless performance.
It has a gorgeous high-resolution 12.3-inch touchscreen display which can reproduce vibrant colours, deep blacks, enough brightness to use outside even on a sunny day. The keyboard design is extremely thin with soft touch keys and a backlit design that helps you work from anywhere. The trackpad uses touch processing algorithms that improve accuracy and palm rejection. With seventh generation Intel i5 or i7 processors, you can enjoy faster browsing, gaming, and seamless 4K output to an external monitor. It offers up to 16GB of RAM for your multitasking and up to 512GB of SSD storage.
The battery performance is awesome giving up to 10 hours from a single charge. It also supports fast charging with up to 2 hours backup in 15 min charge or 7.5 hours back up in 1-hour charge. You can also use your Pixelbook charger with your Pixel Phone giving you one less thing to carry around. Pixelbook is also smart enough to connect automatically to your Pixel Phone with instant tethering feature.
Coming to the software side, the Pixelbook starts and boots up faster and stays without any lag throughout the day. The Chrome OS gives the user a secure computing experience with multiple layers of security and automatic updates. You can keep the most accessed files offline on your local drive and backup the rest securely in Google Drive. Google Pixelbook Pen
While using Pixelbook as a tablet, things will be easier with a smart touch responsive pointing device. So Google came up with the Pixelbook Pen, with which you can draw circles on the screen to ask for assistant’s help on the displayed image or text. The pen is 147mm long and 10.7mm in diameter and weighs just 21.3 g which makes it handy for drawing, writing, and taking notes. The engineers have developed it for greater responsiveness and pressure sensitivity. It has got just 10 milliseconds of latency, 60º of angular awareness, and 2000 levels of pressure sensitivity. The Pixelbook Pen uses machine learning for handwriting recognition and delivers a better user experience. The pen is juiced by a replaceable AAAA battery.
All your favourite apps on your phone will also be available on your laptop and it fully supports the Google Play. Some of the apps include Adobe Lightroom, Instagram, Spotify, Netflix, Evernote, Snapchat and more. The Snapchat team is also working with Google to bring larger screen experience on Pixel book. In addition, many more developers are in the process of building apps suitable for larger screen estate.
Pixelbook is available in three configurations, and you can choose the performance, memory and storage that is right for you. Pricing for Pixelbook starts at $999 and Pixelbook Pen is priced at $99. Both products are available for pre-orders over online or offline and will be out by October 31st.
