Google has launched its streaming media device – Chromecast in India and will go on sale during the Great Online Shopping Festival (GOSF) 2014 commencing on 10th December 2014. The device is priced at Rs 2,999 and will be available exclusively on Snapdeal and select Airtel stores across India.

Google Chromecast is basically a HDMI dongle that once plugged into your TV and connected with your WiFi network, can control it with your smartphone, tablet or laptop running any operating system including Android, iOS, Windows, Mac or Chrome OS. It will allow you to stream YouTube videos, Google Play Movies and even media contents directly from the Chrome browser. Users can control various aspects such as volume, play, pause etc during a video and audio playback directly from their smartphones, tablets or laptops.

Google has partnered with various Indian media houses including Spuul, YuppTV and Eros Now, which will bring popular Bollywood and regional movies, music and TV shows on-demand. As a launch offer Airtel will be offers customers with free Airtel broadband activation and 20 GB data free for 3 months. Eros also will be offering Chromecast customers a range of subscription and content bundling options.
