Flipkart, one of the top five e-commerce store in India, has launched an annual Plus membership at zero fees. This Plus membership has replaced existing Flipkart First service providing more Plus Zone benefits to the members. These include free fast delivery, early access to sales, earn plus coins for offers, and priority customer support. So let us see more details on how to join and whether this Plus membership is any good.
Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO for Flipkart issued a statement saying, “At Flipkart, we deeply understand the Indian customers and work for them meaningfully. This means that everything we do is not just limited to a particular section of the society but appeals to a wider audience.”
The Plus service will officially debut on 15 August 2018 as a part of Independence day sales. However, roll out is already happening to selected user accounts. Flipkart has also rewarded 50 Plus coins to some users so that they can get Plus membership for free. Once joined, you can also collect free welcome offers like BookMyShow, ixigo discount coupons. Follow the procedures mentioned below to access the Plus zone on Flipkart.
The existing annual paid membership program Flipkart First has already stopped. Even existing Flipkart First accounts have been converted to normal accounts with an option to join Plus membership. Some of these account holders have received free 50 Plus coins while some did not. This move has made a lot of customers furious and even a twitter war is happening.
Well, this reward program is not that good. You need to shop more to get more benefits. Even for joining the membership, we need 50 Plus coins. In order to get these 50 Plus coins, we have to shop for Rs 2500(10 Plus coins) or above for 5 times. That is, you have to spend around Rs 12,500 to get 50 Plus coins. Another thing is most of the vouchers listed in the Plus zone costs 50 Plus coins.
Following the acquisition by Walmart, Flipkart is undergoing changes to make it more customer friendly. Even for the past few months, Flipkart has put earning restrictions on their affiliate program. Maybe the restriction is temporary or maybe they want to pass more benefits to the customers as discounts. We have to wait and see whether the new reward program alone will help Flipkart to beat the rivals. Hope the article was informative, Peace!
