They say that while both Facebook and Pinterest have been useful to them in terms of their engagement and sales capabilities, but that, based on a sample of no less than 50k visitors from each platform between 15 March and 15 April 2012, there were some startling differences:

  • Pinterest users average a spend of $180, compared to $85 spent by Facebook users, although:
    • Conversion rates of traffic from Pinterest were lower than via any other channels;
    • Bounce rates of traffic from Pinterest were higher than other channels.
    • Facebook wins in terms of actual engagement, with Pinterest users spending 65% less time onsite than Facebook users;
