Among Indian users especially youngsters Facebook is one of the most visited websites, they chat, update their status, like and share day long. With more time spent on Internet their lies risk of getting into some sort trouble or another. To help our little brothers, Facebook has partnered with Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) to educate Indian students between the age group of 13 – 17 years on Internet Safety.

With more than 10 million students under the age group of 13 to 17 years already active on Facebook, this initiative will train children, teachers and parents on how to get maximum benefits out from internet while not compromising on their safety and security. The first phase of the program will be rolled out across Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad to cover 18000 students across approximately 30 schools and institutions.

Facebook and IAMAI to Teach our Little brothers on Internet Safety

Facebook will create contents and training materials for this program which will be also translated to regional languages for easy accessibility. Along with this safety specialists from Facebook will work with IAMAI trainers on safety content and actively participate in training programs. Some of the key presentations and events will be live streamed via Facebook India page ( https://www.facebook.com/FacebookIndia).

IAMAI has been running the Safe Surfing campaign in India for past 4 years covering 625000 students across India. We are delighted that Facebook has come forward to support this critical initiative and enrich the campaign with their global learning’s.” said Subho Ray, President, IAMAI.

In addition to educating students, this program will also be focused on building community awareness, training Educators, and Child safety NGOs about Internet safety practices. Facebook and IAMAI has also plans to extend the Internet Safety program to other Indian cities through 2014.
