Got any election-related complaints that need to be notified to the concerned authorities? call the toll-free number 1950.  With next major election months away, Department of Telecom (DOT) has allocated the toll-free helpline number ‘1950’ to Election Commission of India, through which public can register any poll related complaints to authorities.

In a notice to all telecom operators in India DOT said “ number 1950 was allotted to Election Commission of India, for public grievance redressal as per request from Election Commission,”. The cost of people calling the number will be paid by Chief Electoral officer of the respective state to telecom operators.

By dialling 1950 public can reach a telephone number assigned by the Chief Electoral officer of the respective state. The complaints will be redressed within a time-limit and will be informed back with the action-taken through SMS.
