When ever you travel to another state (outside of your home telecom circle) telecom operators tend to charge heavily for your outgoing calls and SMS. The special voice plans, vouchers you recharged to reduce the call rates or SMS rates don’t usually get applied while you are roaming. Well, that’s going to change as state run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has come up with what they call ‘Roam Like Home‘ (RLH).

Roam Like Home from BSNL essentially allows you to use the freebies and benefits under any Voice STVs, SMS STVs or Comobo vouchers in both home telecom circle and during national roaming. There won’t be any extra charges while using this STVs and vouchers during national roaming. However, note that the facility will be available only in telecom circles where BSNL has service (so, no Mumbai and Delhi).

BSNL withdraws National Roaming charges on usage of Voice STVs, Combo Vouchers and SMS STVs

Let’s take an example, if you recharge with the Dil Khol ke Bol STV 349 which offers unlimited voice calls to both local and STD numbers, but currently limited to only in home telecom circle. If you are on national roaming you can’t avail the free calling benefits. But, with the RLH, you can take advantage of the free voice calling benefits under STV 349 even on roaming. The only condition would be that you should be on a BSNL network while roaming.

BSNL Roam Like Home Facility

  • No roaming charges for Voice STVs, SMS STVs and Combo vouchers.
  • Freebies under Voice STVs, SMS STVs and Combo vouchers can be used unrestricted while on roaming.
  • Roam Like Home facility will be available only while roaming in BSNL network. Would not work on MTNL (Mumbai and Delhi) network.
  • The service is offered free of charge.

What’s the charge to avail the benefits? BSNL is offering this facility free of charge to its customers. BSNL’s prepaid mobile subscribers in all telecom circles can avail the benefits starting this 15th August 2017. The best part you don’t need to do anything to avail the benefits, it activated by default.
