Due to recent SMS termination charges issue between different telecom operators, BSNL withdrawn a range of existing SMS packs and introduced five new rate cutter SMS STVs for GSM (2G and 3G) based Pan India customers. The new rate cutter SMS STVs offer Local/National On-net SMS at 0.5p/SMS and Off-net-SMS at 7p/ SMS to 10p/SMS, with different validity ranges.
BSNL new rate cutter SMS STVs are priced at Rs 12 (STV12), Rs 24 (STV 24), Rs 31 (STV 31), Rs 52 (STV 52) and Rs 83 (STV 83) with validity ranging from 7 days to 60 day. For all SMS STVs Local & National BSNL to BSNL SMS is charged at 0.5p(1/2 paisa)/SMS and Local & National BSNL to Other operators SMS are charged at 10p/ SMS. For SMS STV 83 Local & National BSNL to Other operators SMS are charged at 7p/ SMS and Local & National BSNL to BSNL SMS charges remain the same at 0.5p(1/2 paisa)/SMS.
The SMS tariff is applicable up to 100 SMS per day only as per TRAI regulation. All the SMS beyond 100SMS/day will be charged Rs.0.50/SMS or SMS charges as per Base Tariff whichever is higher.
