BSNL Launched USSD based SBI Mobile Banking Service for Mobile Customers

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the Govt owned telecom service provider has partnered with India’s biggest banking institute, State Bank of India (SBI) to launch USSD based mobile banking service for pan India prepaid and postpaid customers. One of the main feature of the service is that for using this mobile banking facility customers doesn’t required any GPRS facility or highend smartphones, thus making it easy for common people.

BSNL customers who connect with their SBI account can use most of the banking facility like Fund Transfer, IMPS-Mobile to Mobile Transfer, prepaid and Postpaid Mobile Top up, Balance Inquiry and Mini Statement. The service is available to both prepaid and postpaid customers at Rs 15 per month. To activate the facility customers need to dial *595#, which will show the USSD menu options. In the first option menu Press 0 to know about registration process, Press * to subscribe to the service and Press 1 to Unsubscribe.

For registering the SBI mobile banking service, customers need to Send SMS<MBSREG> to 9223440000 to get user ID and MPIN. In addition customers need to submit separate application for mobile banking in SBI branch.

Initial setup of the service:

  • Dial *595#
  • Press * to subscribe to the service.
  • Press 5 to confirm.
  • Reply message: Thanks  for choosing M-banking servce. You will be charged Rs.15/month for
  • unlimited transactions.
  • Your request has been accepted. Please SMS Y and send to 52630(toll free) to reconfirm your
  • sub request, till then you will be charged Rs 1 per transaction
  • Send SMS Y to 52630(Toll free) for confirmation.

  • Dial *595#. Enter user-id.
  • Kindly reply with your option number from the following options:

  7. De-Register

Mobile to mobile transfer

  • Enter user-id
  • Select option 3
  • Enter mobile number of payee
  • Enter 7 digit MMID of the payee
  • After entering the amount enter your MPIN

Mobile Top-up

  • Dial *595#
  • Enter user-id
  • Enter service provider name
  • Enter 10 digit mobile number to recharge
  • Enter recharge amount
  • Enter your MPIN

Change MPIN

  • Dial *595#. Enter user-id
  • Select option 5
  • Reply with 1 to accept
  • Enter old MPIN. Enter new MPIN. Re -enter MPIN
  • Message will be displayed “Your MPIN is changed”Forgot MPIN
  • Dial *595#
  • Enter user-id
  • Select option6
  • Answer with 1 to confirm

Message will be displayed “ New default MPIN has been sent to your mobile no”. Then you need to change your MPIN whenever you regenerate the MPIN and re-register at the SBI Home Branch.
