Don’t get shocked next time when seeing your land-line and broadband bill being increased extensively. India’s largest broadband service provider Bhartiya Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has hiked tariff for all Unlimited Broadband plans and in addition quietly withdrawn free calls to other networks, available under different combo broadband plans.

BSNL Hikes Tariff for Unlimited Broadband plans, Withdraws Free Calls to other Network

BSNL  has increased monthly charges by Rs 25 – Rs 100 for all general broadband plans (except Rs 250, Rs 350 plans) from March 1st 2013. Monthly charges for Unlimited broadband home plans Rs 499, Rs 625 and Rs 750 has  been revised to Rs 525, Rs 650 and Rs 800 respectively. Also Rs 850, Rs 950, Rs 1000, Rs 1350 general unlimited broadband plans monthly rates has been hiked to Rs 900, Rs 1000, Rs 1050 and Rs 1425 respectively. BSNL has also withdrawn free voice calls available through broadband combo plans to other operators network. The free voice calls are now limited to BSNL networks (land line +mobile). From now on users will be charged Rs 1.20 per pulse for calling other operators network and Rs 1 per pulse to BSNL network. According to BSNL sources, from January 2013 “free calls” available in various Broadband Plans “are admissible within BSNL network only“, resulting a surprise increase in monthly bills.
